Link T&B Inc. and Chubu Seiki Co., Ltd. begin demonstration of portable EV quick charger equipped with vehicle authentication module

Link T&B Inc. (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Toshihiro Iwaki, hereinafter referred to as "Link T&B") is a startup from Nagoya University that develops EV charging solutions, and Chubu Seiki Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture, Representative Director and President: Komichi) manufactures power measurement equipment such as smart meters and constructs and manages EV charging equipment. Hiroya (hereinafter referred to as "Chubu Seiki") has begun demonstrations at Chubu Seiki's head office in order to commercialize a portable EV quick charger (portable EV charger) equipped with a vehicle authentication module.

Key points of the presentation

• At Chubu Seiki's headquarters, we have started demonstration of a portable EV quick charger (portable EV charger) equipped with a vehicle authentication module.
• We verified the operability equivalent to Plug & Charge, which allows vehicle authentication and billing/payment coordination simply by connecting the charging cable.
• In preparation for commercialization, we confirmed the operability, charging output performance, charging amount measurement function, and vehicle authentication system performance.

Background and purpose of demonstration

In order to popularize EVs, charging infrastructure is being developed in Japan. On the other hand, the introduction of fixed charging equipment poses challenges for both installers and users, such as selection of installation location, power supply work, construction period, and handling of vehicle authentication and billing/payment coordination operations.

To address these issues, it is expected that portable EV quick chargers (transportable EV chargers) that increase the flexibility of installation locations and vehicle authentication functions (authentication/billing/payment coordination functions equivalent to Plug & Charge based on ISO 15118) that can be used simply by connecting a charging cable are expected to be used.

For many years, Chubu Seiki has been engaged in the development and manufacture of products that contribute to the electric power field, such as watt-hour meters and voltage detectors, as well as developing businesses related to the construction of decarbonization-related equipment such as EV charging equipment.

On the other hand, Link T&B provides comprehensive support from hardware to software and charging infrastructure through its R&D & Power Electronics, IT & AI Solutions, and EV charging solutions. In the EV charging area, we are developing a portable EV quick charger (transportable EV charger) that does not require foundation work, an authentication module equivalent to Plug & Charge, and the OneCharge data platform.

In this demonstration, we aim to commercialize a portable EV quick charger (portable EV charger) equipped with a vehicle authentication module by installing an actual device at Chubu Seiki's headquarters and implementing the following demonstration items.
